The first two years are called the General Military Course (GMC). The GMC is taken during the freshman and sophomore years. The GMC is a chance to take the Air Force out for a test-drive with no commitment (unless under scholarship contract). GMC students are eligible for various summer training opportunities and in-college scholarships. The GMC classes are 2 credit hours. Students completing the GMC then progress into the second half of the program, the Professional Officer's Course (POC). Before entry into the POC, students must complete a 4- or 6-week summer field training encampment, depending on the program length they are pursuing. POC credits can be used toward an Aerospace Studies minor or used as general elective credit in addition to working toward an Air Force commission. Check with your department or advisor about general elective credits and your degree plan.

Leadership Laboratory

All Air Force officers are leaders, supervisors and managers. We prepare cadets for this responsibility in AFROTC during weekly activities which test leadership and people skills. This cadet-centered program allows students to practice the skills learned in class through a variety of activities.
