Courses & Leadership Lab

Courses Open to All Students 

Students do not have to be enrolled in AFROTC to take aerospace studies courses. Our AERO 1100, 1200, 2100 and 2200 classes are open to any students who have an interest in learning more about the structure and function of the Air Force, as well as military history, policy, and politics. 

Curriculum 

Freshman (AS100) – Senior Year (AS 400): Leadership Laboratory 

  • All active AFROTC cadets participate in leadership lab for hands-on leadership experiences, Air Force customs, drill, and career insights. Tuesday, 3hrs/week. 

Freshman Year (AS 100): AERO 1100 and AERO 1200 – Heritage and Values of the U.S. Air and Space Forces 

  • Introduces the U.S. Air and Space Forces, covering basic characteristics, missions, and organization. Fall/Spring, Credit Hours: 2 

Sophomore Year (AS 200): AERO 2100 and AERO 2200 – Team and Leadership Fundamentals 

  • Focuses on team and leadership skills, preparing cadets for field training. Motivates transition from cadet to officer candidate. Fall/Spring, Credit Hours: 2 

Junior Year (AS 300): AERO 3100 and AERO *3200W – Leading People and Effective Communication 

  • Teaches advanced management and leadership skills, with a focus on communication. Cadets apply techniques in a supervised setting. Fall/Spring, Credit Hours: 3 

Senior Year (AS 400): AERO 4100 and AERO 4200 – National Security Affairs and Prep for Active Duty 

  • Prepares senior cadets for their roles as military officers, covering social and political issues and active duty preparation. Fall/Spring, Credit Hours: 3
